In Reiki Level 1 course, we learn full body healing technique, also called hands-on healing, using Reiki. It involves giving Reiki, either to yourself or to another person by placing hands over various places along the physical body. The healing can be done either through touch or without touching the person. But the person needs to be physically present with the healer for full body healing to take place.
The process of healing through full body healing takes time and effort on part of the Reiki healer. When you learn Reiki Level 2 course, you learn the method of distance healing, wherein Reiki healing can be sent to a person who is physically away from the healer. The person need not be present with the healer physically to receive Reiki in this process.
Reiki healing can be done either through touch or without touching the person.
Some healers stop doing full body healing on themselves once they learn distance healing in Level 2. But nothing can replace the healing power that a full body healing has. Distance healing is extremely effective and can be used for addressing all conditions that a full body Reiki can address, but one core difference between both is time. When we perform a full body healing, either to ourselves or to another person, we spend anywhere between 20 to 40 minutes for a healing session. That is a lot of Reiki sent. However, even the longest distance healing session lasts anywhere between 10 to 15 minutes, with always some exceptions of course. And that extra 5 to 25 minutes makes a HUGE difference in healing. Especially, when it comes to self healing.

I’ve had my Reiki students report healing major problems both physical, emotional and mental, sometimes even long standing issues in the beginning of their Reiki practice. But eventually, when they move on to distance practice, many give up on the full body self healing. And for some Reiki just becomes something that they apply externally or temporarily until the pain of the problem goes away. This is true sometimes even of Reiki Masters and Reiki Grandmasters.
Reiki puts us into the space of Nothingness. The space of Being. And that is a space where we become perceivers than thinkers.
No doubt, full body healing takes longer than distance. And a little bit more effort, but the results are equally fetching. Full body Reiki healing is one of the most powerful healing techniques that are available for us. We wouldn’t be using the full potential of Reiki if we’re not using it to the best of our abilities.
Here are 7 REASONS WHY FULL BODY REIKI IS MORE POWERFUL than Distance Healing as a daily healing tool:
- You give healing to all the Major Chakras, as well as many essential minor chakras. With distance healing, we mostly tend to focus on the issue and send healing to overall healing of the issue which is necessary for problem specific healing. But with hands-on healing, we send healing on a daily basis to each of the Major Chakras and many of the minor chakras across the body. This helps in healing and aligning chakras together.
- You send Reiki to all the vital organs in the body. Since full body healing involves hands-on healing in various positions across the body, we tend to give area-specific healing to all vital organs of the body. This can easily bring out various organ specific problems and heal them over a period of time.
- It addresses many issues at once. With Full body healing you are spending enough time with each position that a each session can send healing to various issues in our lives at once. Though this tends to spread out full resolution of all issues across a longer time, it becomes the best method of healing from a Holistic healing perspective.
- It is a best tool for stress and anxiety management. Every full body healing session helps in de-stressing us and in healing our anxieties away. In the long run, this is one of the best tools since it uniformly addresses all areas of our body to deal with various stresses stored in different parts of our bodies.
- We develop and improve our intuitive abilities. Healing is an intuitive art. Especially with Reiki, where the healer (in spite of the name) is nothing but a channel, we need to rely on our ability to be intuitive to be able to find out causes of issues. Daily full body Reiki certainly heals and develops our third eye as well as other intuitive sense we are each gifted with.
- We understand our minds better. This is something that comes only with regular practice. Reiki puts us into the space of Nothingness. The space of Being. And that is a space where we become perceivers than thinkers. We are able to watch our thoughts from a distance without being pulled into the thought process itself. From such a distance, we can easily understand and heal our deeper motivations and root causes of issues.
- We become more grounded. Healing makes us sensitive to energies around us. In fact, it is the sensitive who are usually drawn to healing practices. We tend to perceive and absorb more than others do. Though Reiki by itself protects us from picking up issues from others while giving them healing, we also have a need to be grounded at all times. A daily practice of hands-on self healing keeps us from being swayed by thoughts, emotions and energies around us.
